Sheldon and Geni's 2019 out west
Today is: September 26 (38926)
We woke up in: Three Rivers, CA We're going to sleep in: Three Rivers, CA

Today we toured Sequoia National Park. There are some really big trees here. It seems the redwoods grow taller and the Sequoias grow wider. The road up through the park was very winding and steep banks on one side and steep drops on the other. For those familiar with 'the road to Hanna', it is nothing like these roads.

Geni: Once again, up a mountain to get to see the Sequoias. On the way up, it was most unsettling with all the zigzag turns. I think I've seen enough mountain roads. We did not explore the whole park and forest, but we did do a bit of walking and saw the Sherman Tree which is supposed to be the bigest tree in the world. The Sequoias are very resilient trees and can survive all kinds of disasters - fires, insects, weather. It is a very impressive story about how the park was protected from the tourism industry and how it is now preserved.
