Sheldon and Geni's 2014 Camping Trip
Today is: September 26
We woke up in: Limon, CO We're going to sleep in: Higginsville, MO

Shel: Great travel day. Went through Kansas and into MO. Something like 567 miles :) Tomprrow we'll have to deal with St. Louis and Indianapolis on our way to Falling Waters - one of Frank Loyd Wright's houses. Gas is cheap here, we paid as low as 2.94.9 (with a discount from Good Sam). Staying in a truck stop tonight. We are now in the Central time zone, so are only 1 hour different from home. Observation: Many of the gas stations advertise the price for regular, but it is only 85 octane, not like 87 at home and the truck needs 87!

Geni: Not much scenery to take in, except that Kansas was pretty flat and populated with more cattle than people. We have observed what we think is a very strange pheonomen in the mid-west and possibly the west. We have waited at many gas stations where empty cars are left at the pumps and people are inside shopping. Some people do have to go inside to pay for their gas, but when they finally come out, they get in their cars and leave, so they probably got gas first. And when they come out of the store, they don't look guilty or rush to their car or nod or anything. Sometimes it takes them another minute before they drive away. What about parking your car away from the pump after you get gas and go in and shop? Is this the norm outside of the civilized east coast??

We have now been in 45 of the lower 48 states!

Kansas is #3 in wind power. It has over 1700 turbines that power almost 20% of the states electricity needs. (Iowa is #1 with over 3000 turbines) we look stuff up while we are driving!~

And then we get a $0.03 discount through Good Sam RV club! Don't remember last time we saw this price
