| Today is: | September 18 | ||
| We woke up in: | Reno, NV | We're going to sleep in: | Salt lake City, UT |
|
Shel: Pretty much just a travel day. There is nothing much between Reno and Salt Lake City. Still ran into a lot of smoke from the fires down south. Our first look at the salt flats was breathtaking - just white and flat! Geni: Pretty much what Shel said. It is amazing that the state of Nevada has so much unpopulated and undeveloped land. Some cities on the western border and then not much until you cross the border into Utah and Salt Lake City. Just loved looking at the sky and the horizon along the way. |

Smokey skies from fires in California followed us for quite a ways |
So many windy roads sometimes going up and sometimes going down |
We saw train tunnels in the mountainsides |
All during this trip, we saw road construction. Along I-80, we had to drive down one lane and then switch to the other lane,with no clue as to where they were working |
Saw black clouds and blue skies at the same time - awesome |
Three shades of blue skies |
Just as we approached Utah border, we saw the salt flats |
Went past the Bonneville Speedway where they go for land speed records |
Salt hills from the salt that is mined in this area |
Salt lines both sides of the road but especially loved this picture of a lonely camper in the horizon |
