Shel: Nice ride today - must have had a great tail wind - flew right along. We had to go through two passes in Idaho. Washington (so far) has been pretty flat. Decided to stop a little early today. I think it is interesting that the central part of the state was sparsly populated, not as sparse as eastern Montana where towns were 70 miles apart! Funny how the people we were going to meet in Seattle are now in Las Vegas - are they trying to tell us something:) Actually we will get to see them on Sunday. Only got 421 miles in today. Geni: As we were leaving we saw some deer run across the road, however, we see deer in our backyard, so while it was exciting, it wasn't picture worthy. Also, I couldn't get the camera to work in time. Glacier National park was big on protecting yourself from grizzly bears. They suggested that hikers use the bear spray if they come across a bear and also stressed that people have been killed in the park. Although we did not go deep into any hiking sites, we never even saw a squirrel.. It seems that both Montana and Washington(with the exception of Spokane) are sparsely populated on the eastern part of their states. We drove by a few towns on our way to Washington, more than we had seen on the way to Glacier Park. It seems that most of America is farmland, not the highly populated cities that we are used to. Stopped at a scenic site that was the Columbia River and a sacred Indian spot. That led us to a campground that we are staying at tonight. Nice and quiet and not exepnsive for an overnighter. |

Forgot to take picture of our campsite, so it looked like this - nice spot in a wooded area |
Perfect spot to live. . .on the water with the mountains in the background - in Montana |
Nice directions - go 354 miles then bear right. When we first got onto I-90 it read 374 miles. |
This is the view from one side of Columbia River in Washington |
The view toward the other side |
It was windy |

Where we are staying tonight. Very few people here, quiet, nice breeze |
