Sheldon and Geni's 2014 Camping Trip
Today is: September 4
We woke up in: Glacier NP We're going to sleep in: Glacier NP

Shel: We rode around the park. Went up to Logan Pass - at 6420 feet. Went on a nice boat ride, Decided to change our next destination to Seattle and to skip North Cascades. Maybe we'll stop at St Helens instead.

Geni: Decided to head back up the mountain to see if the mountains looked different on a sunny day. We stopped at Logan Pass because the mountain goats are usually along the walking path. But the parking lot was full and also I wasn't dressed for 35 degree weather so we turned around and headed back down the mountain which was another 1 and 1/2 drive. We stopped at Lake MacDonald and went on an hour long boat ride. An 88 year old ranger, Doug, moderated the ride and told us how global warming is apparent in this area because the hundreds of glaciers are down to about 25 now. Later, at the village, other rangers set up a special telescope and we got to see the sun's surface and another showed storm flares off the sun, which was pretty amazing. Since we've seen enough glaciers and beautiful mountains, we are off to Seattle next.

Clouds engulfing one of the mountains

Since the roads were so narrow, this driver took the opportunity to drive in the middle of the road

Just so many amazing cloud designs

A close up of a glacier

One of the stops, from the road

Another view from a different spot

Cars driving up steep roads

Leaving Logan Pass - maybe there are goats beyond the stairs

Only mountain goat we could find - taking him home for Grant!

Looks like painted scenery but it is real and spectacular

Since he designed and made this terrific barbeque table which attaches to the camper, he finally was forced to use it. He did a great job cooking his favorite meal.
