Sheldon and Geni's 2010 Camping Trip
Today is: September 21
We are in: Madison, WY - Yellowstone Natl Park - no internet services

Left the mountains of Teton to enter land erupting with steam -- Yellowstone Park. When I was little, I learned about Old Faithful, the geyser that spouted steam. However, I had no idea that Yellowstone is an area filled with geysers, some with no names because there are thousands all over the place. Feels like we could be walking on the moon. It seems that this whole area was once part of a volcano many thousands of years ago and the magnum under the ground causes the liquid to heat up and to bubble, steam or spout up in just so many places. You drive around and you can see steam in the distance. The places we went to had craters of liquid bubbling or steaming in so many different colors due to the minerals in them. We did see Old Faithful, too-- they have it to a science that it spouts every 90 minutes give or take 10 minutes on each side. So you stand with the crowd and just stare at old faithful until it spuuters, spurts, and shoots up into the sky and everyone takes photos. We did talk to alot of nice people along the way. Well, we can't say we didn't see any wildlife around here, because we saw bison crossing the highway, a buck elk coming into the campground the same time we did, and another bison walked through the campgrounds after dinner. they are huge!! We also got to see a coyote walking across a meadow past a herd of bison.
