| We woke up in: | Willemstead | ||
| Geni: We were docked near the Kinderdijk windmills - a highlight of the trip for sure. They are a UNESCO world heritage site. The windmills were built around 1740 as a water management system to prevent flooding. We were able to walk through one of them and marveled at how anyone could possibly live there. And they did, and possibly still do. Very cramped quarters. Then we were bused to Wilemstad where our ship was docked. It was a very small quaint town -- not a tourist town at all. but the windmills were the highlight of the day. |
