Geni: Last night was a magnificent rain storm -- thunder, lightening and pouring rain. I felt bad for the tenters, however, this morning the tents were standing and seemed ok. We left the beautiful Lake Superior to come to Saginaw, Minnesota (on our way to our next destination), so it is just a stopover. Not many campgrounds had openings. Shel found us a four star spot from the internet to eat dinner and we have been wondering who exactly makes the ratings. Because if it is the locals who send it into the internet, we are thinking our version of four star isn't quite the same as any given local version. It was called Gordy's Hi-Top and it was really like a clam box type of place where you wait in line and then pick it up in paper containers. Except it was a burger joint instead. Planning on moving on tomorrow -- it will be WalMart (which we've missed) or a campground that has openings. Shel: I was doing so great on my second tank of gas today, down to 3/8 tank and had avaeraged 9.4MPG (real good) and then came Duluth to the campground - 16 miles all uphill. The final number on that tankful was 9.2. The U.P. is relatively flat and great for gas mileage! I usually do between 8.2 and 8.6. |

The snowmobile crossings in the U.P. The road ahs a layer to limit the damage by ski's and skegs. You can see where even it is wearing thin |

Can't figure out the attraction of this campsite - near highway and railroad - but nice rv's parked here |
