Got out the door this morning after 10:00 and went into Washington, DC to see as many memorials as possible in one day, and I think we did pretty well. Although the weather was really ominous, we were lucky that it never rained. However, the humidity was so thick that it was like walking through a sponge. Each memorial we went to was uniquely different. Each spot evoked different feelings, thoughts and emotions for everyone who visits them and that is what makes them so amazing. Dad wanted to go to the WWII Memorial and it was quite spectacular. We also saw the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial, FDR Memorial, as well as the Lincoln and the Jefferson Memorial. Luckily we had a transport chair because dad would not have made it. As it was, we all took turns sitting and/or being wheeled in the chair so I think dad felt better about being wheeled around. At the end of the day, he was glad to have it!! We went to a great place, Timbuktu, near Baltimore, for delicious Maryland crab cakes for dinner. We are all exhausted at day's end.
