Today we did the road to Hana. We made it to hana and continued to the end, which was the 7 sacred pools and then headed back the way we came, which is the only way back. The road to Hana goes through a rainforest and is narrow and windy. It has somthing like 600+ turns and 50+ one lane bridges each way. Made for a long day, almost like snowmobiling in southern New Hampshire going through the villages. Along the way we stopped on Keanae pennisula and saw the waves crashing into the lava rocks- impressive Geni: The road to Hana is a big tourist attraction. We were lucky that we weren't fogged or rained out and actually made it all the way. Along the way, the roads had so many turns and so many one way bridges and roads which were a bit nerve wracking. it is also a bit claustraphobic because it is the only road to get back and forth. We had a GPS tour guide who advised us along the way, and he remarked that if there was a way to make the road better, the road to Hana would not be such an attraction. We agreed, because when all is said and done, we weren't sure if it was worth it. But we were glad we did it! |
